Software development companies often provide patches and product updates for new features, bug fixes or security concerns. ipMonitor's HTTP - QA Monitor can help you watch other companies for these updates.
It's as simple as locating the download page or release history page for a particular company and monitoring it for any change. SolarWinds.Net has such a page specifically designed for this.
The following example illustrates how to use the HTTP - QA Monitor to be notified of ipMonitor product updates on the day of their release.
Configure a new HTTP - QA Monitor as follows:

IP Address / Domain Name: The Domain Name of the server you want to monitor. In this case, www.ipmonitor.com.
URL: The relative path to the file on the server being monitored. The /updates/currentvesion.aspx file was created specifically to be used with the HTTP - QA Monitor in this manner. It will be updated each time a new build is released.

You will need to assign the newly configured HTTP - QA Monitor to a Profile to be able to generate an Alert.
