Using the Suspend and Unsuspend Commands

ipMonitor includes two interrelated commands: Suspend and Unsuspend Immediately.

In the event that you plan to work on a resource and expect its status to change, the Suspend option allows you to manually pause monitoring temporarily for an individual Monitor or Group of Monitors.

You can select the length of time to suspend monitoring a resource. Once that period of time expires, ipMonitor will simply resume monitoring without any additional action required. You never need to worry about forgetting to manually restart a Monitor once your network or server maintenance is complete.

Example

To temporarily suspend monitoring:
  1. Click the Monitors menu option.
  2. Place a checkmark in the checkbox beside each individual Monitor you want to suspend, or if you'd prefer to select all Monitors, simply click the checkbox on the title bar.
  3. Click the Suspend menu option.
  4. In the drop-down menu, input the duration time in minutes or hours, then click the length of time option you've updated.
  5. The state of the Monitor will now be displayed as "Suspended" on the Monitor List.

To manually restart monitoring without waiting for the specified period of time to lapse, click the Unsuspend Immediately option from the Suspend drop-down menu.
