Using Global Dependencies

If your network architecture requires a critical resource (such as a VPN, gateway or router) to function in order for ipMonitor to correctly monitor all other components of your network, Global Dependencies can help you configure this scenario.

Global Dependencies prevent all configured Monitors in your ipMonitor installation from triggering Alerts when the Global Dependency Monitor reaches a Down state.

IMPORTANT! This feature should be used with caution. If Global Dependencies are configured accidentally, all Monitor Alerts may be unintentionally suppressed.

Example
To set up a Global Dependency:
  1. Log in to the ipMonitor Administration web interface.
  2. Click the Groups menu option, then click the Global Group link.

  1. Click the Add Dependencies button.
  2. Select the desired Monitor, and then click Continue.

  1. Click OK to save the Dependency configuration.
