Configuring a Profile

A Profile represents a collection of actions to be performed on behalf of a set of network resources. The main purpose of a Profile is to control which resources administrators receive status messages for, as well as how the messages are delivered. Profiles also allow for automated Recovery actions to be performed on the targeted network resources without the need for external intervention.

To create a Profile:

  1. From the menu bar in ipMonitor's Administration web interface, click the Alerts option, then click Add Profile.
  2. Enter a Profile Name.
  3. Choose the appropriate Alerting Control logic by selecting either Alert for Groups and Monitors that are listed or Alert for Groups and Monitors that are not listed.
  4. Click the Add Alert button to add Alerts to the Profile.
  5. Click the Add Monitors or the Add Groups button to select Monitors or Groups for the Profile to act upon.
  6. Click OK to save the new Profile.

Additional Information

To ensure your Profiles make use of any Dependency relationships that may have been configured for your Groups, configure Profiles to act solely upon Groups as opposed to individual Monitors.
