ipMonitor's Internal Maintenance feature provides the ability to perform reoccurring maintenance actions on your ipMonitor installation. Various maintenance tasks, such as the ability to roll and archive your existing log files, allow you to better manage your available disk space.

By default, ipMonitor generates four separate log files to provide Administrators with information necessary for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes. When the option to archive log files is enabled, ipMonitor will compress and transfer existing log files to the Zip file specified.

ipMonitor's reoccurring Internal Maintenance scheduler is hard-coded into the Maintenance Schedule list. To enable log file archiving, proceed with the following:

1. Log in to the ipMonitor Administration web interface.
2. Click the Automation menu option and select Maintenance Schedules, then click the Reoccurring ipMonitor Maintenance link.
3. Place a checkmark in the Archive Rolled Log Files checkbox.
4. The Zip File Pattern is filled in by default, however, you can change the path and file name if desired. Click the Token List button to insert a token into the file name. The token will be replaced with dynamic content when the file is generated.
5. Select the preferred Remove Log files by Age option from the list provided. Any existing logs that have not been written to in the selected length of time will be removed from the ipMonitor/logs directory, and included in the archived Zip file.
6. Select the days of the week when the Internal Maintenance Schedule will run.
7. Click OK to save your settings.
