Understanding the "Last Result" Retrieved by a Bandwidth Monitor
The Last Result obtained by a Bandwidth Monitor test can be viewed by:
- Accessing Live Reports within the Admin Dashboard.
- Accessing the Edit Monitor screen by clicking on the Monitor Name from the Monitors List. The Last Result information is displayed at the top of the screen, within the Monitor Status section.
For the purposes of this article, we'll be referring to the Edit Monitor screen to directly relate the Last Result information to the configuration elements of a Bandwidth Monitor.
Example

The Last Result section is intended to be read as follows:
- RTT - Round-Trip Time.
rtt: 4ms
This value indicates that it took the test packet 4 milliseconds (ms) to reach the specified network interface and return a response to ipMonitor.
- IN - Bytes In
in: 21.86KB
This value indicates that during the time that elapsed between the previous and most recent polls (300 seconds as specified in the Delays Between Tests While: Up field), 21.86 Kilobytes (KB) of data was received by the interface being monitored.
- OUT - Bytes Out
out: 21.86KB
This value indicates that during the time that elapsed between the previous and most recent polls (300 seconds as specified in the Delays Between Tests While: Up field), 21.86 Kilobytes (KB) of data was sent by the interface being monitored.
- KB/s - Kilobytes per Second
KB/s: 0.15
This value indicates that the network interface being monitored is currently transmitting (bytes in and bytes out) 0.15 Kilobytes of data per second. This result is directly compared to the value set in the Last-Value Threshold field. If the Last-Value Threshold rate is exceeded, the Bandwidth Monitor will re-analyze the data by comparing it against the Short-Term Threshold value specified.
- KB/s-AVG - Average Kilobytes per Second
KB/s-avg: 0.17
This value indicates that the network interface being monitored is currently transmitting (bytes in and bytes out) an average of 0.17 Kilobytes of data per second during the sample period (in this case, 915 seconds as specified in the Sample Size field). This result is directly compared to the value set in the Short-Term Threshold field. If this threshold is exceeded, the Monitor status will change from Up to Warn and may progress to Down and Lost as the Monitor detects successive failures.
