Working with the Global Group in Installations with <50 Monitors

Most ipMonitor installations use Groups to assemble a collection of multiple individual Monitors for the purposes of assigning them Dependencies.

For ease of management, the Global Group is created by default to encompass all Monitors. If your ipMonitor installation has less than 50 configured Monitors, the Global Group may be the only Group you require.

Example

To create a general Alerting system that will cover all your Monitors, proceed with the following:

  1. Create a new Profile by clicking the Alerts menu option, then selecting Add Profile.
  2. Enter edit mode for the Profile and add the Global Group from the Add Groups submenu option.

  1. Click the Add Alert submenu option, then select Simple Email.
  2. Configure the Simple Email Alert to notify you when a Monitor fails.
Additional Information

All members of the Global Group are accessible from the Monitors List page. You can easily search and sort the list, delete, add, suspend and unsuspend Monitors, etc.

The Global Group cannot be deleted, nor can ipMonitor be configured to operate without it.
