Clearing ipMonitor's DNS Cache

If you've recently made changes to a Monitor's IP Address / Domain Name Test Parameter entry, but the old record continues to remain cached, it is possible to clear the Domain Name System (DNS) cache to correctly load the updated data.

ipMonitor uses the host computer's client-side DNS caching feature. Using the standard IPCONFIG command-line tool built-in to all Windows 2000, 2003 and XP systems, you can view and flush the DNS Resolver cache.

Example

To clear the system's cache, proceed with the following:

  1. Open a command prompt:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
  2. Issue the following command to flush the DNS Resolver cache:
    ipconfig -flushdns
The following command will display the contents of the cache:
              ipconfig -displaydns
