ipMonitor 8 includes a convenient Credentials Wizard to simplify the process of creating and organizing Credentials.

You can launch the Credentials Wizard directly from the configuration interface for Monitors, Alerts, Maintenance Actions and features that require a Credential. Simply follow the interactive instructions as the Wizard guides you through the process of setting up a Credential created specifically for the desired feature.

The following example illustrates the process for creating a Credential to be used with an Event Log Monitor. The Credential will allow the Monitor to run under an account with administrative privileges in order to access the Event Log on a remote Windows Machine.

Launch the Credentials Wizard:

1. Create a new Event Log Monitor.
2. Click the Select button to pop up the Credentials for Monitoring dialog.
3. Click the New Credential button to start the Wizard.

Create a New Credential:

1. Enter a unique Name for the Credential.
2. Enter the Windows NT Account and Password to be used by the Event Log Monitor.
3. Select the User Authorization desired.
4. Review the summary of Credential details and click Finish.
5. Click the Apply button to assign the newly created Credential directly to the Event Log Monitor being configured.

Although the Credentials Wizard allows you to create a new Credential and apply it immediately, it cannot be used to edit or manage Credentials. To perform these functions, you must use the Credential Manager.
