Send an Email Alert Marked as 'Important' in Microsoft Outlook®

Using the Custom Email Alert, you can configure ipMonitor's alerting abilities to mark an email as 'important' when delivered to your Microsoft Outlook mail program. This ensures you'll be able to spot a critical Alert as soon as it arrives, even if other messages are filling up your inbox.

Example

To mark an email Alert as 'important' in Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Log in to the ipMonitor Administration interface and click the Alerts menu option.
  2. Click the name of the Profile to which you want to add the Alert.
  3. Click the Add Alert button, and then select Customizable Email from the drop-down menu.
  4. Complete the Identification and Availability sections as desired.
  5. Enter your email address in the Send an Email Message To field within the Alert Parameters section.

  1. In the Failure Message, Recovery Message and Information Message fields, add the following content beneath the "date: %rfc822date%" line:

    X-MSMail-priority: high

  1. Click OK to save the Alert.

When triggered by a Monitor, Custom Email Alerts delivered to Microsoft Outlook with these configuration settings will be marked with the 'important' icon:
