Enabling Authentication with SMTP Relay Servers

Organizations that use SMTP Relaying to forward mail to domains other than their own typically only permit authenticated relaying. This process requires you to authenticate before you can send a message, either by providing a password or by logging into the mail server before sending any mail. Authenticated relaying prevents using the organization's SMTP server to send spam.

ipMonitor provides the ability to authenticate with SMTP Relay Servers, which allows:

To Enable SMTP Relay Server Authentication:

  1. Log in to the ipMonitor Administration web interface.
  2. Click the Settings menu option and select Server Settings.

  1. Enter the IP Address / Domain Name and TCP Port number of the SMTP Relay Server.
  2. Click the Select... button to choose or create a Credential to be used when connecting to the SMTP Relay Server.
  3. Click OK to save your settings.
