Windows 2000 :: Local Security Policies

The Credential Account may be a Local Machine Account (on the machine being monitored) or a Domain Account.

Note: If a Local Machine Account is used for the Credential Account, the specified Local Machine Account must exist on both the remote machine and the ipMonitor 8 host machine and must have an identical User Name and Password.

Ensure that the Credential Account belongs to the Administrators Group on the machine being monitored if monitoring an Administrative share (like C$).

If the ipMonitor 8 Service (ipmonitorsrv) is running under a specific user Account (other than Local System), ensure the following Local Security Policies are enabled for the ipMonitor 8 Service (ipmonitorsrv) Account:

  • Act as part of the operating system
  • Bypass traverse checking
  • Log on as a Service

If any setting needed to be modified, it will be necessary to refresh the applied Local Security Policy settings by performing the following:

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Execute the following command:
    secedit /refreshpolicy user_policy /enforce
  3. Verify in the Application Event Log that the new settings were applied correctly. If an error was encountered, it will be recorded here.
  4. Restart the ipMonitor 8 Service (ipmonitorsrv).

  • .\UserName (for a Local Machine Account) ³
  • UserName (for a Local Machine Account) ³
  • UserName@Domain.com (may be used with Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista)

If a DOMAIN other than the Domain the ipMonitor 8 host machine is a member of is specified, a Trust must exist for ipMonitor to be able to authenticate.

Select one of the following:

  • May only be authorized for use by the owner
  • May be authorized for use by any Account

Check the following setting:

  • May be used with Windows Impersonation for use with RPC
