ipMonitor provides the ability to test SNMP-enabled devices or applications and infrastructure equipment such as bridges, hubs, switches, routers, network servers, etc.
The SNMP Tree Tool is a database of common MIBs that have been precompiled into ipMonitor.
To access the SNMP Tree Tool, click the Tools menu option, then select SNMP Tree.

The SNMP Tree is included to facilitate the configuration of the SNMP - QA and SNMP Trap Monitors as well as the SNMP Trap Alert. The MIB database is arranged in a tree structure, with logical groupings represented by expandable branches.
Use the plus and minus signs to expand and contract branches while you navigate through the SNMP Tree. Clicking on a specific OID name allows you to view its details.

Name
The textual label that uniquely identifies the Object Identifier.
MIB
The Management Information Base to which the OID branch belongs.
OID
The sequence of numeric labels representing the nodes along a path from the root to the object.
Path
The same path from the root to the object, represented by a text string.
Base-Type
The type of the data represented by the OID.
Value-Ranges
The range of values an object instance may display.
Access
The level of access rights granted to the client to manipulate an object. i.e. read-only, read-write, not-accessible, etc.
Status
The implementation state of the object. i.e. mandatory, standard, deprecated, obsolete, unknown, etc.
Description
An optional textual description of the object. This field is provided to aid human understanding of the object's purpose.
SNMP Wizard
Clicking the SNMP Wizard button allows you to quickly and easily configure a SNMP - QA Monitor using the specific OID information accessed.
The SNMP Search Tool is a convenient way to quickly retrieve a specific OID. The SNMP Search Tool performs a search against the database of MIBs compiled into ipMonitor.
To access the SNMP Search tool, click the Tools menu option, then select SNMP Search.
Search through the compiled SNMP MIBs
The SNMP Search is articulated through a case-insensitive Regular Expression. This feature allows you to search for characters or strings that form part or all of the OID's named notation identifier.

Search Results
The SNMP Search Tool will retrieve any matches found based on the RegEx pattern entered above. Click on a match to bring up the corresponding detailed information box.

In addition to the SNMP Tree and SNMP Search tools, ipMonitor provides other features to assist you when working with SNMP OIDs:
Note: The Custom Database Builder is only available to Licensed ipMonitor customers. For detailed instructions on compiling and importing a MIB database, refer to the tutorial entitled Add a Custom MIB Database to your ipMonitor Installation, located on the Support Portal.
