ipMonitor includes the ability to generate and use a Self-Signed SSL certificate.
ipMonitor uses SSL to provide the secure exchange of data across non-secure networks such as the Internet. Self-Signed SSL certificates are quick to install, and there is no cost involved. They provide the same level of encryption as all other SSL options ipMonitor supports.
Self-Signed certificates are not signed by an external authority. They ensure that encrypted Internet connections are in place, but they do not guarantee the actual identity of the organization that generated the certificate. Self-Signed certificates are a good option if encryption has priority over the ability to verify the identity of the issuing organization.
