ipMonitor includes a number of useful features to facilitate adding and organizing network resources:
Setting up network monitoring on a large scale can be time consuming. ipMonitor's Scan Network Wizard will quickly locate applications, services and devices ipMonitor can watch on your network. The resulting list of suggested Monitors is grouped by IP address or domain name.
The Add Server Wizard allows you to query the local machine, a remote SNMP-enabled computer running Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP or 2003, a remote SNMP-enabled computer running a Unix-Based Operating System (Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, etc.) or an SNMP-enabled device for possible Monitors that can be added.
ipMonitor supports the ability to group individual Monitors together under one name or title. Dependency relationships can then be created between critical resources and the entities that depend on the operational status of those critical resources to function properly. Dependencies prevent multiple Alerts from being sent when only a single Alert is required.
Once a large number of Monitors have been added to ipMonitor's configuration, the Filter feature makes administration much quicker than having to page through lists of hundreds of different Monitors.
Cloning your Monitors provides another time-saving device for Monitor configuration. Simply duplicate your existing Monitors, all their settings, and attached Tags. Then, modify only the options you need.
