ipMonitor's security features surpass the standard industry expectations and excel at providing a secure solution for your network. The following features ensure secure network monitoring for your organization:
As a self contained network monitoring solution, ipMonitor uses the HTTPS protocol to provide a secure method for logging in and administrating Monitors and Alerts, viewing Report data, etc.
To take full advantage of ipMonitor's security capabilities you must first install an SSL Certificate, ensuring secure client / server communication. ipMonitor supports the following four certificate acquisition methods:
Individual user accounts allow full control over the level of ipMonitor permissions assigned to different Users or Administrators.
IP Address Filters allow User access to be granted or revoked per IP address or range of addresses.
The Credentials Manager permits ipMonitor to run under a NT account with minimum privileges, and impersonate specified accounts with elevated permissions when accessing Windows® network resources. RSA 512/1024 bit encryption is used internally to store all sensitive parameters and data.
Where possible, Monitors will not authenticate using clear-text credential exchange. Digest Authentication is used with HTML/ASP, and NTLM Authentication is used with IMAP4, POP3, and HTTP.
