To access a Microsoft SQL Server Database, you do not need to download and install an additional OLE DB Provider.
| "The Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 includes a native Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server used by OLE DB applications to access the data in SQL Server. In SQL Server version 6.5 and earlier, ADO applications had to use the OLE DB Provider for ODBC layered over the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. Although ADO applications can still use the OLE DB Provider for ODBC with the SQL Server ODBC driver, it is more efficient to only use the OLE DB Provider for SQL Server." |
More information about Microsoft SQL Server can be found at Microsoft Corporation:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms950403.aspx
However, please note that Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later is required to connect to Microsoft SQL Server.
To check the MDAC version used on the system, use the MDAC Component Checker Utility available from Microsoft:

If needed, download the current version of MDAC from Microsoft:
