How do I Allow ipMonitor Access to Monitor an Oracle Database?
The ADO (SQL Connect) and ADO - QA (SQL Query) Monitors require that you have the correct OLE DB Provider installed on the ipMonitor host computer to provide access to the database type you wish to use.
The Oracle OLE DB Provider allows data access to Oracle Databases. It is available for download directly from Oracle Corporation, at the following location:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/ole_db/index.html
IMPORTANT! You'll require the following information before you begin:
- The instance name of the Oracle Database you want to monitor.
- A username and password to access the Oracle Database.
- The TCP Port used by the Oracle Database.
Configure the OLE DB connection
- Download and install the Oracle Provider on the ipMonitor host machine.
- Once the Oracle Provider has been installed on the ipMonitor host machine, open the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant.

- Select Local Net Service Name Configuration from the options provided, and then click the Next button.

- Select the Add option, and then click the Next button.
- Enter the Oracle Database's Service Name. This is typically its Global Database name.
- Select the Protocol used for the database you want to access (typically TCP).
- Enter the Database computer's Host Name and a TCP/IP port number. The default port number (1521) is already entered.

- When prompted, choose to perform a connection test by selecting the Yes, perform a test option.
- If the connection test fails, you may need to reset the login options configured. Click the Change Login button to provide the username and password needed to access the Oracle Database you want to monitor.
